horse behavior

I am certainly learning some things about horse behavior, watching these three creatures.  Old deaf, half-blind, twenty-two-year-old Crook has now assumed leadership over the other two.  This is the horse I thought Blue was going to kill, his first day here.  Amazing!

Age before beauty and all that stuff. Crook must have assumed leadership when your back was turned LOL. Helen

Funny how quickly a horses status can change....we have sold half of our horses in the last year and each time one left, the hole pecking order would go into chaos for a few days and then the new "leader" would take his/her place.  Thankfully that is over now and we are down to the horses we are keeping....they have all breathed a sigh of relief, now that the drama is over and their routines are back in place. LOL
Take care,
Tina

I suppose that all creatures have to figure out who the Alpha is.

Crook sure is looking better too.  Maybe self confidence is good for him.
