Back from Van's Warped Tour

That's Matt, the lead singer of Amber Pacific... a group my granddaughter, Amber (in the picture, getting a poster autographed) likes, and so do I.  And isn't he cute?  With the exception of the band's drummer, everyone in the group is 18 or 19, and very talented.

The temperatures were HOT HOT HOT, and I did something this year that I didn't last:  I went to the reverse day-care for a couple of hours.  That's an air-conditioned tent with free water and soda where kids can take their parents (or grandparents) and leave them to be taken care of.  LOL.

In order to get to Bonner Springs, Kansas, we had to maneuver through some of the most nightmare-ish traffic this side of Washington, DC (::waves at Joanna::).  Amber hasn't been driving long, but she did so well!  Brett was the one who kept us from wandering about the state of Kansas all night, because Amber and I couldn't remember how we got to Verizon Ampitheater, and did not have a clue how to get home.  Brett knew every turn.  He also was the one who remembered where we parked.

It was a great day, and worth every penny I spent.  I am amazed at what these young folks wear, and what they do to their bodies, to "fit in" with the crowd.  More tomorrow.

You are a better woman than I am, that's for sure. Reverse daycare? Hey, maybe I can do it!   Anne

Well, Brett had a ball!  He says that he and Amber have VERY different tastes in music, but that's what's so cool about this tour...something for 'most everyone.  I'm so glad you're cool enough to do this.  Thanks.

...oh and the folks who appeared to be "fighting"? Going in circles and shoving each other? It's a "mosh pit" and they were "moshing" or "body slamming" or "slam dancing". My SIL got her nose broken that way...and broke another girl's nose. LOL Oh those wacky punks.

Traffic in Washington DC???  Hhmmmmm lemme think a minute.  Oh yeah....with my newly acquired job and 3 minute commute (5 in 'traffic') I have almost forgotten what it's like.

So glad you had a good time.  Did you color a picture for your refrigerator at day care?

YOU are a cool Grandma! Looks  (and sounds) like the kids (and Grandma) had a good time!

I cannot believe how brave you are to do this.  But I know that the kids think you are cool!!! Or hip!  Or whatever the term is these days.

You are such an awesome Grandma to go to Warped Tour again with your grandchildren!!  My daugher is in a garage band and follows most major punk rock bands show to show and I've been to my share of punk rock concerts, but I don't like the music at all!  It IS amazing what they do to their bodies today.  My oldest has 2 'Industrials' which are double hole barbells side to side in the ears and she recently told me what they represent to her.  She has been in love and had her heart broke twice - and each time she got the barbell, to represent a reminder of the pain endured by each relationship.  I thought that was deep.
Anyhow - you are certainly one awesome gramma - do you adopt? I can pass on a few if you're interested! lol
