I just found out I traveled the worst-rated airline possible. And didn't have a speck of trouble! Perhaps part of the reason is that I only take carry-on luggage because I don't like messing with that merry-go-round thing where you pick up your baggage.

Hello there!
I kept a journal on AOL for over four years. AOL decided to get rid of journals, so I transferred my memories from there to Blogspot. I don't intend to add to this site, except perhaps to add some pictures that were lost in the transfer; I'm keeping it for the memories: memories of babysitting my granddaughters; of my long-gone dog, Mandy; of nights spent at the cabin; of vacations and motorcycles bought and sold.

YUP that's the way to go! My MIL only flies that way too. When she takes the kids she tells them what size bag to bring so you can carry it on rather then tag it. Glad you made it without problems :)
Everyone gripes about Southwest, but I love them. ExpressJet is new, but I loved them. If I board on time, and I'm taken care of them, they're golden. SW lost my luggage once, but delivered it to my home the following day (1 1/2 hours from the airport) so they lost no points with me. Go with what works.

Well I'm flying the 3rd best. I'm not going to Hawaii so I can't use their planes which are 1st and 2nd best! Linda
I don't fly often anymore but generally speaking, I've pretty much had good experiences.
Since I live where we have the worst airport, any part that goes well makes me happy! I just came home from a trip that had two parts to it, so three separate flights. Nothing at all went wrong. It was a good experience. I do carry on luggage only also, but may have to start checking it. Lifting a pilot bag over my head to put it into the overhead bin is getting harder every year. I am too short for this! Glad your trip went so well. It can be disconcerting to fly alone sometimes!
