My AOL buddy Nance sent me this link; Cliff said, "Send that to Jim." (Our son.)
I started to, when I realized lots of people might want to see this video. It's much more than just an old green tractor!

Wow! That is a pretty neat machine... It cuts trees down and throws them around like their little little tooth picks.

that was very interesting.... thanks, Why are they clearing the woods? just for the wood or are they putting in a road???

OMG i have to send this to my dad lol He used to do all this by hand! Us kids were his measurers. I remember being very young out there with a measure stick and measured for him while he cut to size. This is amazing!! I loved this. He's going to laugh when he sees this and in all the years he was doing this and put SO much sweat into it...now they do it while sitting??!! WOW
ReplyDeleteYou must have forgot where I live...pulp wood central down here. That damn thing is amazing. I haven't seen one with the front tracks like that, but have seen one with the same "grapple" setup. The really cool part is that there is a computer figuring out linear board feet while it's cutting. Once the tree is down, the computer is figuring out where to cut the sections to make the most money out of each tree!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! That was amazing! Looks like something Cliff would enjoy playing with!!!

Mo, I am impresed! My secret desire when I was a tad bit younger was to be a tree farmer. Takes a lot of land and one always replenishes the land. I am in awe of this machine, considering all of this used to be done by hand. WOW. Anne
ReplyDeleteKevin guessed it was a computer deciding the length, then I saw Jim's comment. That is WAY cool. Plus, it's obvious that this guy has been doing this a time or two...he knew exactly what to do, and when.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I would love to see that in person! Thanks for sharing-Jeff
ReplyDeleteCool! I've never seen such a thing before!

This sure beats having two men on the ground with measuring stick and chain saws.
ReplyDeleteYou just made the old loggers roll over in their graves with excitment! LOL Carol
ReplyDeleteWow! I watched that whole thing, and while I found it amazing the way it sliced, diced and shredded those trees to nothing, I felt kind of bad for the poor trees. It made me wonder why he was cutting them down? To make room for more houses? To sell the wood? Yeah.. my, mind just goes there. It was very interesting though! I wonder how much those guys make for doing that!?

Sure wish we had one of those when I was workin in the woods, we had to climb the tree and do the limbing. That is a sweet machine
ReplyDeleteOK that movie was like a horror movie to me! I can't believe they have machines that do that! AHHHHHHH! Call me a tree hugger...

As interesting as this was, I couldn't help thinking, they just made it easier to deforest our planet. What can I say I'm a nature lover. (Hugs) Indigo
