checking in

I'm staying pretty busy these days.  The two granddaughters are here all day, this week; they start summer school next Tuesday.  And I try to lend a hand to Cliff when he needs me.

Five weeks ago today, Cliff was in surgery.  He's been unable to wear overalls because they hurt his chest, rubbing where his breastbone was sawed open.  Today he tried a larger pair of overalls and found out he can wear them;  he's overjoyed!  He now has a proper place to carry his pliers as he putters around the place.  His chest does still hurt him (the incision and healing bone, not his heart), and he's far from being back to his pre-surgery self.  But he's come a long way, and I'm thankful.

  3. I love that graveled road. It made a beautiful picture. I hope the other horse will work out good. Ken has a scar he had to cope with after his ruptured aortic aneurysm. He was cut from just below his ribcage around the belly button and as far down as they could go. It was a long time before he could wear jeans and he has probably never worn a pair of overalls in his life LOL. I am glad Cliff has some big enough to not hurt his chest. He is looking very good.  Hope you both have a nice day. Helen

  5. Sneezing will bother him for a long time but the scar itself will become a badge of honor, he is a survivor!

  8. When I worked in Cardiac Rehab that was the biggest complaint the patients had was discomfort  in the breastbone.  Not sure that really ever goes away completely.  Can't believe it's already been 5 weeks!!  WOW!  Time sure goes fast.
    Good pictures, as always.

  11. I think that incision and the breaking of the breastbone to get to the heart, takes the longest to heal!  All in all though, I would say, Cliff is doing excellently!  With all the prayers going up for him, how could he help but not! :)

    I can't believe it's been 5 weeks already!
