I spoke with my daughter-in-law a few minutes ago. Jim is doing OK so far. I would try to describe what went on with his broken leg, but it's all over my head and pretty complicated.
They're at the stage now where they got Jim off morphine and onto something else. Well, the first drug they tried made him sick. The one he's on now puts him to sleep. But this is something everyone has to go through, I guess, if they're in pain.
He sat up today in a chair (but was not comfortable!).
Typical male ( just like his dad), he won't call the nurses when he needs assistance. Sheesh.
When you are praying, be sure and remember Jim's wife, who has to go to work tomorrow, and feels guilty for leaving him and going home tonight. We wives all know the feeling, don't we?
The doctor said they're on guard for pneumonia, since Jim's a smoker.
So far, so good.

I'm glad your son-in-law is doing well.

Sorry! I meant your SON!! I hope he continues to do well, and that there is no sign of pneumonia.
Lori
Mosie, I am still praying for Jim...and I will not forget to add his wife to it tonight....You take care too...LEt us know howthe report ison Cliff, okay?
God bless you both,
love ya,
carlene
It must be a straight male thing to not want the nurses to give you care -- I was a very demanding patient those times I was in the hospital. It's either a "gay thing" or a "I'm a big, complaining baby thing".

I will saying a prayer for his quick recovery and that he will get to come home soon. I know your DIL hates to leave him to go back to work. My prayers will be for her also. Helen
I will happily add your daughter-in-law to Jim's prayers.
Have a great Monday.
Prayers for your son and his wife too...Yes, it is hard to have to go to work. He is in good hands and sounds like he's coming along well. 'On Ya' - ma
As a nurse, the patients who don't call us for assistance are a NIGHTMARE!! We always worry about them falling and hurting themselves even worse! Tell him that you've got orders from A NURSE for him to USE that callbell!! LOL!
I hope he doesn't get pneumonia. If he's getting up in the chair, and using that thing called an "incentive spirometer" he should be ok. Ask him if he has one of those. It's a breathing contraption. He'll know what it is if he has one.
Hope he's ok.

I hope Cliff's MD appt goes okay today and it is nothing serious...
Geesh! sorry to hear about Jim. Broken legs suck, especially in the hit summer. It sounds like he had a nasty compound tib/fib fracture?
I hope he heals quickly without complications.
I KNOW too well the wife guilt....but lately I seem to be overcoming it, especially when hubs is behaving like a spoiled brat.
MOSIE PTL HAPPY TO HEAR YOUR SON IS DOING WELL MARIA
Poor Jim. Sounds like a tough road ahead.

Thinking of Jim and his Mrs ... and your Cliff and you! Busy day out there along the banks of the Missouri!
Continued prayers ...
It sounds like Jim is coming along....I'll be praying for his wife. I know how that is...she will have a miserable day I'm sure. Bless her heart. You guys have my continued prayers. Hollie
I enjoyed scrolling down your journal to read about your country life. I also went to your son's and daughter's journals and your other one. I just wanted to try to get better acquainted with such a journaling family. I do hope your son's broken leg heals well. Looks like a nasty break, and oh that stuck in the mud truck! That was real mud. Reminds me of our giant slew. Gerry http://journals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men/
