mystery solved

I found out where Blondie came from.  Some friend of Marvin's deliberately dumped her because he didn't want her.  So there's no problem with somebody claiming her.

And she has definitely claimed us, although why she didn't stay at Marvin's with all those kids puzzles me.

Two of you offered to help with the vet expenses, and I appreciate that.  But we can manage it.  Be aware that this dog will live outside.  I know some of you are thinking I'll change my mind, but there's no way I will.  So you, my readers, may get attached to the dog along with us, but you may be grieving with us later if she's run over.  Forewarned is forearmed.  Although she seems pretty much glued to the place.   Right now she's sprawled beneath the back door; if I didn't know she was there, I'd step on her when I went out.

She'll be a neighborhood dog:  if someone wants to feed her scraps, fine.  If somebody next door wants to play with her, fine.

She's a nice little dog, great with kids.  I hope she isn't already pregnant... the circumstances of how she arrived her make me wonder.  Perhaps if she is, the vet could abort the babies.

So now we know.

P.S.  I just called the vet's office, and yes... if the dog is pregnant, they'll take care of that when they spay her.  $15 extra, but hey, that's cheaper than puppies.  And a lot less trouble.

P.P.S.  Click HERE to see the granddaughters' reaction on their first meeting with Blondie.

  1. I've heard that can be done...whether that is true or not I don't know.  I'm glad that she will be staying with you guys.  She's such a beautiful dog.  You can tell by looking at her how loving she is.

  3. What about Cliff building Blondie a really cool dog house?  We all know how Cliff can build anything.  I am sure next winter Blondie will really apprieciate it.  Maybe a little hint in his direction!
Do you have any idea how old Blondie is?

  4. Ahhh, such bliss on both girls faces along with it on Blondie's also. She is eating that loving up. If we know Cliff and you that dog will have a very warm place to stay when the weather gets cold again. Helen

  12. We live down the street from our town's Dog Pound. Many times people just drop the animals off there. Luckily (or not, for my parents) I would find these lost souls and bring them home. All of our pets were strays and they had great lives with us. Almost 2 years ago, my husband decided to purchase a purebred Boxer. Strays are so much SMARTER!!! LOL. You are doing a great thing to give this dog a good home. It doesn't hurt that she is so good with children and cute too!

  13. Well... I certainly hope she doesn't run out in the street and get hit.  That would make me very sad.  She seems like a wonderful family dog..  I can't imagine someone just dropping her off like that.  That is horrible.  Poor thing..  I'm glad that she found you and that the kids love her so much.

  15. I knew you would keep her. ;) She looked like such a sweet dog, and when you said she stayed right by your side and didnt run off...I knew she had you! Good on you for getting the neighbors all straight on what is what, and how its gonna be. Sometimes you have to just lay it all out for everyone...then there are no misunderstandings later.

  16. I loved her from the first picture!  It's ok to love and loose although I know it hurts.  I still miss Mandy.  But the love is worth the pain!  Blondie is beautiful!
