I received a link to a youtube video in an email from Rollinghillsides which confirms something my husband has said for a long time: The lemon slices we order with our drinks are filthy. Yes, 77% of them have some sort of organism on them that could make us sick. Many of them even have (pardon me while I gag) fecal material on them. If the lemons are that dirty, what about utensils, plates, and other food?

I guess it's worth slicing our own and bringing it along in a baggie if you really want to have lemon in your drink.

I have never though about this. I used to get some with my water, get Ken's and add them to mide squeezed them into the water and added artifical sweetner for a sugar free drink. Not anymore. Thanks for sharing.

EW! At my workplace, we ALWAYS have to wear gloves and wash our hands. We don't serve anything fancy, but yuck! I'm never getting lemon again!

ReplyDeleteI have a friend who is a waitress for a living. She gets loads of customers who ask for ice water and lemons. They squeeze the lemons into their water and add packets of sugar to make what she calls "redneck lemonaid" because, she suspects, they are too cheap to buy a soda or other beverage. I'll have to send her this video. LOL

Gross! I just had lemon slices with my fried shrimp the other night at a buffet, guess what...not an hour later I was having stomach problems til the next morning! EW!
