I love old barns

These lovely old structures are a dying species.

This one, near Coffey, Missouri, is somewhat unusual.  Looks like someone has put a roof on it recently.  Maybe they'll paint it soon.

Somebody loves this one, too.

  1. So do I!  I checked out a book from the library a while back that was about barn restoration and it had a lot of pics.  You'd probably like that one.  I can't remember the name of it.  I know it had restoration in the title. lol

  2. I love them too.  I so remember playing in the hay loft at my Grandparents farm.  I also remember the first time I tried to milk a cow.  Thanks for the memories today.   In Ohio several of our old barns have been painted with one of the Ohio Anniversary dates on it.  Lots of people will collect pictures of the Ohio barns too.
Lots of barn lovers out there.  My grand parents barn is still standing but not their house.  Some cousins have taken over the use of it. I don't think it has been painted though in many many years.  'On Ya' - ma

  4. Oops. I was wrong for once in my life.  The book is called Barn: Preservation and Adaptation, The Evolution of a Vernacular Icon.

  7. I love old barns, too!  That's something we don't have much of here in the desert.  But, when I drive through the countryside and am able to catch glimpses of them.. they always stir my heart.  Can't explain it.. but they do.

    Thanks for sharing the pictures!

    Hugs

  8. Beautiful barn. We don't see too many of those here. Guess because we don't have much cold weather. Some farmers just have large sheds to stack hay under and some it left out until used. Paula

  11. It has long been my desire to have pictures of the old barns that are dissapearing so rapidly.  I'd love to frame the prints and make a collection of them.  WHO HAS THE TIME ? ? ? ?
