There are so many wonderful blogs and journals out there, I've almost given up on saving them in favorites or in Bloglines, because I do have to leave some time for living my own real life!
However, I had to share a couple of entries that I found thanks to Veronica, of Toddled Dredge (a great blogger in her own right).
Do you hate annual Christmas letters? Like them? Laugh at them? No matter what you think of them, you're going to love this post. Although I think perhaps Rechelle should perhaps overlook her mom's typo. No, wait... if she'd done that, I wouldn't be sitting here grinning at 6 A.M.
OK, here's one that really cracked me up, over at All Rileyed Up.
Go on, you know you need a good laugh this morning.
Around 2 PM, as Cliff was getting ready to go to work, I noticed the temperature was 45°. Considering how long it's been since I've had a long horseback ride, I figured it was plenty warm to ride, as long as I bundled up.
I've had many pleasant rides when it was that temperature... but that was when the sun was shining and there wasn't any wind. Oh, I enjoyed the ride, and Blue did his job with gusto and energy. But after an hour and a half out there in the wind, I was uncomfortably cold, and my toes were numb.
Still, I'm glad I seized the opportunity.
It was always John Scalzi's job to give us a Monday Photo Shoot assignment each week; since he's moved along to devote more time to his writing, I figured that would be the end of that.
However, Karen, over at Outpost Mavarin, has decided to keep up the meme, with John's blessing. Her recent week assignment:Your Substitute Monday Photo Shoot #1: What's New?
In honor of the new year, show us something new. It can be a gift you
got over the holidays, something you gave yourself, or even something
that symbolizes the New Year to you. If it's new, it'll do!
I simply grabbed the first new thing that came to mind:

Those are my brand-new, real-deal flylady feather dusters! One has a long handle, for hard-to-reach areas. They weren't cheap, but I have to say they do a lot better job than the old fake-feather Wal-mart duster I had before.
Oh yeah, I'm FLYing now!
Go ahead, find something new and play along. Let Karen know we appreciate her trying to fill the gap. And then leave a link to your entry right HERE on her blog.
Sadie and I were hanging out in the kitchen last night when we heard a crash from the other room that made us both jump and run to see what had happened.

See the empty space at the top? Flylady has me in the living room this week, and when I'm in that zone (once a month) I have to wash all my knick-knacks. Evidently when I washed my four Avon "life-of-Jesus" plates, I must have bumped the hanger on it and left it crooked, because alas, my favorite plate of the four fell and broke.

There was one, and only one, on Ebay today for $6.99. I think the shipping came to about $8. Altogether, I'm sure that's still less that I paid for it new, many years ago.
I also used to buy Avon's Christmas plates each year from an Avon salesperson, until I found out you can get them on Ebay much cheaper, even with shipping charges added on.
I've stopped buying them, since we lowered the kitchen ceiling so that my space above the cabinets isn't big enough for the plates to hang. If I ever decide to get the ones I'm missing, there are always plenty of them on Ebay, a plate from any year.
Wonderful Ebay!

I know we all dream, but I seldom remember my dreams.
So you can imagine my surprise this morning when I recalled bits and pieces of a detailed dream I had: I was at the ranch with Ree, the Pioneer Woman. I don't know what all we did, but I know she and I were taking pictures, and it was snowing like crazy, and we were riding around on a farm wagon. Cliff was there someplace, and so was Marlboro man; for some reason, the men didn't have much to say. I was just so amazed that I was spending time with Ree, and I woke up quite happy.
Now, on the the next strange thing: I woke up sometime in the night with a picture in my mind of a metal table with pullout leaves like many I recall seeing in my childhood. I tried my best to remember who in my memory had such a table, and never did come up with a certain answer. Perhaps my sister, in the early years of her marriage? Maybe even my parents? I don't think it was my grandma; I'm pretty sure her kitchen table was wooden, painted white.
I described the table to Cliff awhile ago, and he remembered that kind of enamel kitchen table I was describing. In fact, his bachelor-Uncle, George, had one in his one-room cabin.
Now you readers are really going to think I've lost it: I want one of those tables! I want to get rid of the rather expensive wooden monstrosity in the middle of my kitchen that takes up half the floor space and replace it with something that simple, something made in the 1920's or 30's.
Of course, these mental meanderings led me to Ebay. Yes, I found one. It needs the wooden frame refinished, but it's in surprisingly good shape otherwise. I won't be buying it, since it's in Pennsylvania. But I'll bet another could be found, closer to home.

Sigh. I hope spring comes soon, and draws my attention once more to the great outdoors.
Here's another such table I googled up on a faraway Craigslist. Actually, I like it better because of the way the legs are made.
