I just find them to be a beautiful animal that sure serves us well with food and drink. You and Cliff have your work cut out for you, and I see you do a wonderful job. Great to have folks like you still around.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8395555111688403818.post-61406324617562196132005-10-22T17:42:00.000-07:002005-10-22T17:42:00.000-07:00I didn't realize that putting the horses with the ...I didn't realize that putting the horses with the cows was a problem.... They do it around here all of the time, and Boo spent 6 months living with some cows once. Must be the personality of the individual horse... I remember many many years ago, [when the ex and I lived by his folks in the country] they had a small herd of 6 cows which were for ever getting out of the pasture ! One time, they actually crossed 2 farmers land, and had to stop because of a fence row [thank goodness for the fence row]. After the farmers helped get the herd back across the open fields, as well as a country road, all but 1 cow crossed the creek which was the border of the inlaws property. It was well after dark before they could get that 1 cow out of the creek [about knee deep water at that time] and back in the fenced in area. With all that said.....I sure understand the frustration of cattle on the loose ! Have a great day !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8395555111688403818.post-64850277011931326342005-10-23T05:49:00.000-07:002005-10-23T05:49:00.000-07:00I would love to have a cow, we have a barn and 6 a...I would love to have a cow, we have a barn and 6 acres now, but we don't know enough about cows (or horses) yet to actually own one - and I doubt anyone wants to be the "practice" cow!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8395555111688403818.post-65719211558287822462005-10-23T07:24:00.000-07:002005-10-23T07:24:00.000-07:00I am really farm stupid, Mosie! lol I have lear...I am really farm stupid, Mosie! lol
I have learned sooo much since I started reading your journal!
Okay, I have a question (and yes, it is safe to laugh when I ask it, as I'm sure you will...lol), but.. umm.... what did you mean when you said, ...."He is now providing a feast for coyotes, bobcats, possums, and the occasional dog that passes through the woods." I could tell by looking, even from a distance, that he's already been feasted upon quite a bit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8395555111688403818.post-46006095140630892532005-10-23T20:39:00.000-07:002005-10-23T20:39:00.000-07:00We saw John's twin calves today.
