Youngest granddaughter learning to ride

Granddaughter Lyndsay has no appropriate horseback-riding gear:  No boots, no long pants.  However, she wants to ride, so ride she shall.  If you wear shorts when riding a horse, it doesn't take long till the saddle rubs you the wrong way; so I've told her as soon as she is uncomfortable, let me know and we'll end the ride.  I have a riding helmet, but since it's Blue, and since we have the round pen, I haven't made Lyndsay wear it.  I know lots of purists will think I'm a terrible grandparent, but that's just the way it is.

Now, with no further ado, I give you Lyndsay riding Blue:

I noticed in the pics from the other day she was even barefoot, and I just thought to myself...yep she's a cute little country girl!  I bet lots of little girls in the country learn to ride just like Lyndsay.   Way to go Grandma!  She'll never forget this.

Good riding, good instructor!  Blue appears to be 'the best horse' for this activity.  :)

Awwwww,,,,,what a precious video.....that Blue is a wonder. He's such a magnificent animal. You have a teasure there ! Lyndsay looks like a natural. Making wonderful memories. She for sure will remember her rides at Grandma's house in the country.

Some of my fondest memories are the summer days I spent at my uncle's dairy farm.....feeding the baby calves.....feeding the milk cows twice a day...and riding a horse named 'Blue' also. But he was an ornery cuss....LOL.

All those supposed purists; it is a ruse to garner credibility.  Good grandparents improvise so their grandkids don't miss out on too much in life. ~Mary

You will laugh at this...It was quiet in the sun room and I began playing this video of Lyndsay on the horse....I suppose that was your voice or someone's that talked during the video...and every time words were said...Tugie ran to the door and began barking...more words...run to the other side of the sun room and barked....more words...back to the other door and barked.  I tried to tell her the voices were coming from the computer but she would not listen.  It was driving her crazy to hear voices and not be able to see people.  lol  Hope Lyndsay enjoyed her ride.  Blue is such a good horse.  But you knew that.  lol
Ya'll have a good 4th.

Look at that baby ride that horse! You can tell Blue is being careful too, what a good boy! I dont think you are a bad grandparent, I think you know your horse and would never put that baby in any danger. Blue isnt going to do anything, I know you trust him completely. :) Kelly

Blue looked more at risk for a nap than anything else, but a helmet is always a good idea. I can see why you didn't worry, though!
