I was going to go to my cabin....

My day was full of ups and downs.  After Cliff, Rena and I went for our (very wet and foggy) walk, I saddled Blue and rode for a short time... mainly out of guilt.  Poor guy, because of heat and rain and just being busy, he hasn't gotten enough attention lately.  So I spent time with him.  That was a good time.

Unfortunately, as I was getting ready to send our property insurance, I realized I needed to talk to our insurance man:  After all, we are no longer living in our old house.  We've insured the mobile home, but I figured we needed to let someone know that Cliff's sister is living in our old house.

Well, guess what?  We get to pay $150 more a year, because it isn't US living there.

After discussing a few more issues that didn't set well with me, I ended up yelling at our insurance man on the phone.  It didn't do a lot of good, but at least I got it off my chest.  We've had the same insurance (Concordia Farmer's Mutual) for thirty years and only used it once, and I get treated like trash that can't be trusted.

Trouble is, there isn't a lot of choice, since most insurance companies won't touch old houses out in the country.  Believe me, I've checked.

So I fumed and fussed for awhile and wondered if I needed to spend a night at the cabin.  Then I thought about having no air conditioning or shower.  And remembered my firepit and my porch right here at home.

Yeah.  I kept my camp-out right here. Now I'm sitting on my porch, typing on my laptop, and thinking what a wonderful home I have.

The hot dogs were extra-good because they were Nathan's hot dogs.

Thanks, Joanna, for getting me addicted to hot dogs that cost over $4 a pound.

In spite of the cost of my insurance, I can still afford them.

Your place is so beautiful and seems so relaxing.  I wish I was there.  I love reading about your life as it takes me out of the hustle of the big city.  I am also glad you got a little ride in with Blue.  He is a magnificent animal.

Have you checked with the Farm Bureau?

I had a frustrating evening too dealing with the phone company....I talked kinda harsh to her too.  Sometimes they just don't leave you any choice...   Sorry your insurance went up ...  Your campfire & vittles look very good.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.....  I'm so glad that things are working out for you & Cliff.

Sorry that your house insurance went up. I don't blame you for not going to the cabin. You have all the nicities of the cabin right at home plus a good shower to get that smoke smell off of you. I bet you shared that high priced hot dog with Sadie. Yummy. We had hot dogs for lunch with cold slaw on top. They were pretty tasty. Helen

Hot dogs and marshmellows sound like comfort food to me.  I've never had Nathans but now will have to try them out.  'On Ya' - ma

Nathan's  hot dogs!  Those are my favorites too!  My son got me hooked on them.  They are expensive, but well worth it!!

I swear Insurance companies will get you coming and going!  :/

I'm so happy to hear that you are loving your new home so much, Donna! :)

In thirty years my home insurance has gone from under a hundred dollars to almost a thousand.

There'll be time for the cabin when the weathers cools.  I don't blame you for staying near the air-conditioner.  Good looking hot dog!

Sorry about the insurance.  I guess with a new person they consider it a new policy with new rates.  May go by "experience" ratings as they call it.  $150 fluctuation though per year is not as bad as it could be.
I tried those Nathan's b/c you suggested them and they are very good.  We end up getting ball park though.  I'll have to try Nathan's again sometime.

Well, that doesn't seem quite fair, does it?  Glad you could get it off your chest though.

You're very welcome, Donna  :o)

I'll enjoy them the rest of this week because I know when I have my quarterly checkup next Friday, Dr. Lovely will suggest I cut down on the sodium.
