A birthday motorcycle ride

Our old riding buddies, Charlene and Pat, were in the area for the Fourth-of-July weekend.  They came on their Harley, and they suggested Cliff and I ride our bike about halfway to St. Louis with them when they left.  We've hardly ridden our bike at all, the past two months, what with moving, rainstorms, and just life in general.  So yesterday morning, after making biscuits and sausage gravy for eleven (I think) people, we sent Jim and Lyndsay on their way and then hopped on the Gold Wing for a ride on the back roads.

I've never made that much gravy at once, and there was barely enough... but we managed.  Charlene and Pat are always saying my biscuits and gravy are the best, and since Cliff and I will soon be back to our regular healthful meals, I decided to end my week-long cooking marathon with breakfast for all who wanted to come, just so Cliff's sister could have my biscuits and gravy.

Anyway, we had a lovely ride with our favorite bikers.  Charlene and Pat had told me they were going to buy our dinner in Columbia, as a birthday gift to me (since I've been cooking all week); but you could have knocked me over with a feather when they pulled over at Outback!  I believe this was only the third time I've eaten there.  It was a real treat, and Cliff and I did NOT split a meal between us.  Today the starving begins.

So, although my birthday is today, I feel yesterday was the day of celebration:  a motorcycle ride and Outback.  Also, as I told Cliff, I'm still enjoying my air conditioning and the dishwasher so much, every day seems like my birthday.

Biscuits and gravy sounds good. I went to Jack's yesterday and got us a  breakfast special and it has that in it. I am glad that you and Cliff got that ride in. have a nice Birthday today. Helen

I think many folks start starving today from the looks of the way I saw some people eating yesterday..... I have often heard that Outback is expensive, but when I went once it really is cheaper than any "good" place to get a steak around here.  I'm glad you didn't share a meal, no one should have to share their Birthday meal. That is just too diety for me.
Every day seeming like your Birthday just means you are smart enough to appreciate what you have.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY. ~Mary

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Donna!!!  Many good thoughts and blessings are being sent your way!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

I learned to make gravy from my mom, only she always made it with bacon.  My kids love my bacon gravy for breakfast, only they don't like it with biscuits, they like it with bread.  But, it has to be GOOD bread, not the cheapo kind.  Whenever my kids are all together (especially the boys) I have to make a big pan of gravy!  They never leave a drop!
It's some good stuff!  Fattening as all get out, but worth every bite! lol

Hugs
Jackie

Happy Birthday!  Oh ... Outback ... it's a favorite here!  I would not have split a meal either.  In fact, you'd probably have to wrestle me for the loaf of warm bread.

I enjoyed your 4th pictures and these too.  I'm so glad you had a nice visit with your friends, and especially your son and granddaughter.  Thomas and I passed a Goldwing a few days ago with a couple on board, and I thought of you!!  But they were pulling a trailer that was shaped like a little sports car.  And I knew you weren't riding around Indiana!
