up for grabs

Amongst the things my mom left behind is a rusty metal box; I believe it says "Union Leaf Cut Plug" on the box.

Inside it are pieces of my father's childhood, like...

My daddy's report card from 1917.  And...

Greeting cards Daddy received when he was a school-boy.

Wow.  I'm so glad my mother was a packrat.

What a wonderful treasure.  You have been blessed for sure.  My mother was not a packrat and I would have loved it if she had been.  However, very little was left by her in the way of memories. I on the other hand am the complete opposite.  My children will have wheel barrows full to go through.  'On ya' -ma

Those cards are highly collectible. I see them come up on Antiques Roadshow a lot. :-)
