One happy rooster

I've taken several pictures of the lonely rooster who used to belong to the next-door neighbor and somehow ended up living here, roosting at night in our barn.  For lack of better companionship, he's been keeping company with our calves.

Cliff has developed a rather grudging affection for that old rooster; if he feeds the calves, he'll toss a handful of their grain on the ground.  Lately old Rooster actually approaches Cliff, begging politely.

In recent days I've told Cliff, "That rooster needs a hen."

"No, he does not," Cliff would say.  "He has his calves."

But some lady Cliff works with happened to be culling her chickens, and Cliff took one off her hands and brought her home last night.

Old Mr. Rooster is lonely no more.

How sweet.   What a great Valentine's Day those two are gonna have, lol!  I also think all animals need another of 'their kind' to keep company with.

Awww, they look perfect together. Now he has one of his own kind to pal around with. Their coloring even matches. Helen

Aw now that sure was sweet. You need to do a video of them together. I bet he was just so happy, and now he is doing the chicken dance for her isnt he? I love that dancing. How is she taking to him? Guess she was the lucky one huh, not being turned into dinner and all. ;)
