dreams and wake-up wonderings

I know we all dream, but I seldom remember my dreams.

So you can imagine my surprise this morning when I recalled bits and pieces of a detailed dream I had:  I was at the ranch with Ree, the Pioneer Woman.  I don't know what all we did, but I know she and I were taking pictures, and it was snowing like crazy, and we were riding around on a farm wagon.  Cliff was there someplace, and so was Marlboro man; for some reason, the men didn't have much to say.  I was just so amazed that I was spending time with Ree, and I woke up quite happy.

Now, on the the next strange thing:  I woke up sometime in the night with a picture in my mind of a metal table with pullout leaves like many I recall seeing in my childhood.  I tried my best to remember who in my memory had such a table, and never did come up with a certain answer.  Perhaps my sister, in the early years of her marriage?  Maybe even my parents?  I don't think it was my grandma; I'm pretty sure her kitchen table was wooden, painted white.

I described the table to Cliff awhile ago, and he remembered that kind of enamel kitchen table I was describing.  In fact, his bachelor-Uncle, George, had one in his one-room cabin.

Now you readers are really going to think I've lost it:  I want one of those tables!  I want to get rid of the rather expensive wooden monstrosity in the middle of my kitchen that takes up half the floor space and replace it with something that simple, something made in the 1920's or 30's.

Of course, these mental meanderings led me to Ebay.  Yes, I found one.  It needs the wooden frame refinished, but it's in surprisingly good shape otherwise.  I won't be buying it, since it's in Pennsylvania.  But I'll bet another could be found, closer to home.

Sigh.  I hope spring comes soon, and draws my attention once more to the great outdoors.

Here's another such table I googled up on a faraway Craigslist.  Actually, I like it better because of the way the legs are made.

I remember those tables. My mother gave me one once then I gave it away when I got a different set I have no idea where she got it. It had two chairs with it. The enamel was a light yellow blending into a light green edge. Helen

My kitchen table looks very much like the ones above, but it doesn't pull out.  It is only good to seat 4 and I love it's enamel top. It has a drawer in it.  I found it in an antique shop years ago and got it and 2 chairs for 20 dollars.  Check the antique places in your area.  As far as dreams go, we were talking about them in our bible studies and the feeling is we should pay attention to our dreams after all the angel of the Lord came to Joseph in a dream more than once.  Good luck with your search.  'On Ya' - ma

They both look very sturdy. That's my kind of table if it's sturdy! I am always amazed at how you can always find what you want online.
Hope you get the one you want.

we had such a table in our kitchen as I was growing up...we would move it outside from time to time during summer...eat on the porch...buffet kind....it had leaves that pulled out....we didn't use it as a kitchen table...cause we always had at least ten people every meal....but mom used it for extra space...we had a big kitchen but not a lot of counter space....it sat by the window between the stove and sink area....wow..Donna...I haven't thought of that kitchen etc in a long time....thanks for jogging the old memory cells LOL....hope you have good luck with the table....hugs...Ora

I got curious and wandered around Ebay and saw one close to the second table you pictured. It had a red/white top and green legs the style of the second one. Interesting table. I think my grandma had something similar in her kitchen, except it was round. It was certainly enamel over metal on top tho.
