An icy evening

Cliff has been surfing on the laptop for the past three hours.  Yes folks, the man who doesn't care for computers is hooked.  He's been on one website all that time:  Wingstuff.com.

If the weather won't allow a person to ride his motorcycle, at least he can order all sorts of accessories for his bike, as long as he has a steady job.

Tonight we spent about $170.  And we have a wish-list for the next order.

Meanwhile, we've made a pact that we'll ride our Gold Wing on the first day that it gets above 40°.  Because according to weather.com, we aren't going to get out of the 40's for the rest of this month.

By the way, do you see that little "degree" symbol to the right of the number "40" up there?  That's another new thing I learned today!  If you would like to make a degree symbol, just ask me and I'll tell you how.

OK, I'll tell you right now, because I know  you're dying to know:  press down on the alt key and type in (on the number pad) 0176.  That makes the degree symbol.

The internet is very time consuming when you start surfing.  Sometimes I think half my evening if not more is spent doing just that.  We are supposed to get the ice tonight and into the morning.  Thankfully it is the weekend.  I love all the little computer things you are learning...I never have the time to learn anything new I just seem to make do with the old.  Take good care on that ice. Another way to the degree symbol, and many others that are NOT on the keyboard, is this:

Click on Start, all programs, accessories, system tools, character map.  You'll find many things to add "ummph" to your entry.  And, you can see the keyboard shortcut for them.  For instance, you've told us that º came from a combo of alt/0176.  There are many other useful characters out there.  It's fun to find these things.

Remember when I had my first computer, and we compared notes  (via AIM) on the things we found?  Remember your first "illegal error"?  Remember how foreign it was?  I feel like I have failed, not sharing things with you as I should.  I will try to be better about that.  That is my New Year's resolution.

THat is a long time to spend on one site hee hee. I make my degree symbol by holding down ALT167. I tried yours out and the little rings are a different size LOL. It's 60º here right now and will get 79° today and 78º tomorrow. Your Thanksgiving trip should've been around about now, weather wise. Do you know how to make the ¢ sign. I have been wondering about that one so I googled it up. ALT0162 Helen

How on earth do you learn all these things?  If I do learn it, most times my brain just won't retain unless I use it daily!
