drama, every day

The grandson who lives here is constantly losing or forgetting things.  Since June, he's laundered his social security card twice that I know of.  He lost his cell phone in a parking lot at the Lake Of The Ozarks, where it was run over by a car before someone called to report they'd found it.

A couple of weeks he lost his wallet, with cash and driver's license in it, and never did find it; I imagine it ended up on the ground someplace and was found by someone who kept the cash and tossed the wallet.  He went and got himself a replacement driver's license, which he has decided to keep in his glove box (geesh).  And he now shoves his cash loosely into his pockets.  He figures if he doesn't carry a wallet, he can't lose it.  (Einstein he ain't.)

Today's drama:  I got up at 5 A.M. and the grandson, who should have been on his way to work, was still here.

"I locked my keys in my truck," he said.  "I used to have a spare key in Grandpa's junk drawer; I don't know what happened to it."

(Luckily, he knew who to call at such an early hour to help him break into his pickup.  Thanks, Jimmy John.)

This is a young man who will turn twenty-two on Saturday.

If I let him live that long.

Looking at the bright side, I suppose I should be thankful that the drama doesn't involve paternity suits or cops.

*sigh*

Okay, I shouldn't, but I will .... LOL.  I'm going to say Happy Birthday to him early.  Just in case.

A friend of mine always says if they are not in jail or the hospital, we can be thankful...I have to agree.  He's learning some tough lessons lately, we'll just hope he remembers them.  'On Ya' - ma

This seems to confirm what I've been told.  "It's that generation".  I have 24 yo twin grandsons.  You described them perfectly.

Don't worry, I have a nephew who loses keys, wallets, important papers etc. constantly. He goes to college in our state and stays with my parents on the weekends. His losing things drives my Mom crazy! She always said he would lose his head if it wasn't attached! He is also 22 yrs old.

WAIT!!! That child woke up his mom first to get J's number.  It wouldn't of been so bad, if I was SLEEPING, on my day off.....LOL

Sounds like he needs to laminate everything so when it gets washed it will come out clean and not ruined...lol. Maybe he needs one of those wallets on a chain too. I know it is an aggravation, but like you say...it could be something a lot worse than forgetfulness and carelessness. Hopefully that will fade with maturity. In the meantime, try not to kill the poor boy. ;)

At least it's not boring at your house, huh?  LOL  I have a husband like that.  He loses everything and then thinks I have some kind of telepathy to find it.  tsk.

My daughter is the same way...if her head wasn't tied to her, she would probably lose that too!

You are so funny Donna. Like you said, it could be much worse!! At least he's a good kid, although forgetful.

DEFINATELY ... what this guy needs is a good wife to set him straight! He sounds like such a nice kid ... no real problems that a good wife couldn't work out.  HE'S A KEEPER!

Where's your boarding pass?  Sorry, it had to be said.  I've dropped my cell in a parking lot and had to go back for it at 35.  I've locked my keys in my car at 30.  I'm drifty, too, so I feel for him.

John is like that and he is an old man. Hope your grandson has a wonderful birthday. Paula

That one will need to marry young - to a woman who is a nurturer :-)

This is funny...well not really...but I know someone I work with that keeps losing his phone.  He's dropped it in the toilet, ran over it, lost it.  LOL  And he is almost 50.  The rest of his life follows suit.  He just married for the 2nd time (lost first wife to cancer a few years back) and his wife is very organized and so there's hope yet.  LOL  But we always tease him at work.

This is off the subject from your grandson... I know you read my private journal this morning.  This guy I mentioned above is one that fits the "1/2" model I mentioned.  Loved by all, protected by all, 1/2 gets things done.  Makes me so mad.  The rest of us have to do his work 1/2 the time. But yet I think he's a great guy too. LOL
