So, Cliff's been talking about selling our Honda

Yep, Cliff has been talking about selling our Gold Wing.

Every time we watch news on TV, somebody has gotten hurt or killed on a motorcycle.

Everywhere we go, by car or motorcycle, we seem to see motorcycle wrecks.

Our son was injured riding his motorcycle.

I've always been a little spooked, riding.  But I have a blast anyhow, and it's the only way Cliff is interested in traveling just for the sake of traveling (I do love road trips).  So I asked him why he would want to sell it.  We haven't had any close calls; Cliff handles the 'Wing well since he started working out.  I asked him if he feels in control when we're riding, and his answer was yes.

He says his biggest fear is that he would get me injured, because he isn't sure he could handle that.

Well, I just bought biker boots this summer, and new chaps; I hate to waste money.  I don't think we're ready to quit yet.

In a couple of years, perhaps we will be.  But we need to make another trip or two to Branson.  We still need to trailer the Honda out to Colorado and ride in the mountains.

See, most of the motorcycle deaths you read or hear about happen in big cities or on the Interstate.  Or after dark when deer are crossing the roads.  These are situations we avoid like the plague.

So Cliff agreed we should at least keep "Our Blue Heaven" at least one more year, and give it our best.

Pray for us that we have made the right decision; I believe we have.

But if something should happen to me while we're riding, please remind Cliff that I was the one who wanted to keep the Gold Wing.

If you wanted to make me cry you did.  I'm not as brave as you are with these thoughts.  You two are so much like me and my husband.  This makes me know that I NEED your mailing address because I know we would not be able to contact Cliff unless Rachel could get him to read your journal.  Also have a long talk with Rachel....I think she would do a good job cause she did when Cliff was sick.  You can see I'm taking this way too seriously.

Every day of our lives crazy things happen out of the blue.  I think you are about as safe on that Honda as any place.  I'm a firm believer in the fact that when our time is up - it happens no matter what we do.  We really are not in control of that at all.  It is our responsibility to drive safely and do the best we can to avoid hazardous conditions, but when all is said and done...we all know who has the power.  'On Ya' - ma

We love riding our bikes too. If only those in cars would pay attention to the motorcycles it would be a better riding world. We know a lady who lost her leg when she was hit by a drunk man who never stopped....the jury said there is no way she saw the vehicle but I beg to differ.....when you are on that bike you are so aware of everything around you. Hubby was on the jury and the guy was 70 and went to prison. His buddy turned him in.
Happy and Safe riding to you!!

I had just thought about you last night when a friend and I were talking about motorcycles and accidents.  It sounds like you are both very careful.

I pray that both of you will stay safe. Enjoy riding while you are physically able to do so. Helen

I would hate to see you give that up! I've always thought that it's such a fun activity and I'd love to do that.  Just continue to avoid the high risk situations, and enjoy it for a while longer.

We sold ours three years ago for the same reason. I just couldn't feel comfortable that I could keep Donna safe.
I've had 3 accidents in my 30 odd years of riding, none of them serious as far as injuries go, but I was always alone.
How I ride alone, and how I ride with her on the back are totally different. Evasive riding with a passenger is much harder than being alone.
If Cliff gets too aprehensive, don't push him. It then  becomes a chore rather than a pleasure.
Enjoy it while you can.

That is why I am so afraid of them because of a cousin and his young son but I think their's was much smaller. Seems Cliff takes everything in to consideration so if its what you like to do go for it. Paula

Defense defemse. It sounds like Cliff has it. Pat has been thru the same thoughts, especially after he dropped it and I was on it. He is better now more than ever I feel safe with him.

Yes, motorcycles can be dangerous.  It's a hard decision.  My hubby Rob witnessed a friend who was killed on a cycle when he was young and it forever changed his view of motorcycles.  Lately I've been noticing how many people have been injured or killed in amusement park rides and water parks.  Scary.  Hugs,

Personally, I think you should keep it!  You guys aren't quite the "hot rod" type that would be drag racing or taking the chances that usually get others into accidents.
