John Scalzi gave us this assignment:
"Your Monday Photo Shoot: Picture something in orange. As a
challenge, don't take pictures of actual oranges (the fruit), and
picturing actual pumpkins seems a little too easy too. Other than that,
go for it."
Around here, when I think of orange, I think of Allis Chalmers tractors. Even though we sold our last Allis a couple of weeks ago, it's my personal favorite brand of tractor because many of my uncles farmed with Allis Chalmers' when I was growing up.
In this picture you see a tractor that was given to us by my Uncle Leo and restored by Cliff. It's still in the family; that's Uncle Leo's grandson, Brian, who bought it.
And here's the D-17, series IV Allis that was our workhorse for many years:
Is that enough orange for you, John?

Never enough orange in the world. Those tractors are good looking -- as tractors go.
That type of tractor is popular in the tractor pulls up here. Linda
I KNEW you'd pick out something different to photograph! Good job!

Great picture. Growing up on a farm..I love tractors, especially old restored ones.

Awesome! Tractors are a great source of orange.

I've always loved an Allis.... We had one once and C.Y. sold it way too cheap.
I love tractors, but around here we mostly see John Deere. I have seen the Chalmers though. A friend of ours has 100 acres in the country and I try to get my grandson out there as much as possible. Thanks for sharing your orange.
Take care, Chrissie
Maybe I'll get around to doing this ORANGE thing ... D17 ... drove one for many years ... teased my husband that I loved him for his tractor ... think I put more hours on it than he did ... mostly baling hay. I drove an orange Schneider truck, too.
