medical issues in the family

I got a call from the doctor's office today.  The only problem Cliff's blood tests show is too-low "good" cholesterol.  Niacin will fix that.  He's been on it before.  No problem.

My son in Georgia is at home now, still on some pretty powerful pain-killers and with three pins in his left leg.  He also has a brace, and he is using a walker to get around.  He can't put any weight at all on that leg for four weeks.  There's also some sort of contraption on his leg that pumps cool water around it so it won't swell.  He has orders from me to take plenty of pictures.

I've found the George Foreman grill I really want:  it's on sale at Kohls for $69.99.  But I have a 20%-off coupon, which would make it much less.  The thing I like about this one is that the grill plates are removable.  So you can toss them in the dishwater to soak.

I surely do need a bigger one, because the one I have now does well to grill two hamburgers.  We're going shopping tomorrow; perhaps I'll get the new, bigger one.

We have the bigger Foreman grill.  It's great.  Frankly, Brett used it more than we ever will, but it's so easy to clean and just awesome.  I hate how much room it takes up in the cabinet, but it's worth it.  Buy it.

That is good that the niacin will fix that problem.  I had high cholesterol last year and I really am supposed to be extra careful.  I think sometimes I need to take my vitamins more regularly.  I have been a bad girl lately about the vitamins but they were helping me so much.  Oh and that George Foreman grill really is wonderful.  Nicholas likes it when I make salmon filets on it.  I just have a small one but we do use it from time to time and we all really like it how easy it is to cook with.  Hugs,

Let me know if you get the Foreman Grill.  I'll ask for another testimonial. :o) I like the idea of the removeable plates.  The grill that I introduced you to when you were here is nice, but alas, the plates are stationery.  I think I'd use it more if I didn't have to scrape and mess with trying to get the gunk off with the plates attached.

I love my George Foreman.  It will do 4 hamburgers at a time, but as I'm the only one here that is plenty big enough.  I bet your son is glad to be home.  We'll be praying for a speedy recovery for him.  Glad all is well with your hubby.  That is good news.

Sounds yummy!  I didn't know that about niacin.  Linda

I am glad that Cliff will be ok. I used to use my GF grill a lot but gradually quit using it. I found that when I turned mine off I wet several paper towels and lay in it. When we finished our meal presto the cooked gunk wipes right off with no problem. Bet you will be glad to get a bigger one so you can do a full meal at once. Helen

Hope your Hubby is fine and I am sorry about your son and hope he recovers quickly from the motor cycle wreck.  I must have the same grill you have.  It doesn't cover a lot of area.  LOL.  I mainly use it for sausage and for making what I call "pan sandwiches"....really just toated sandwiches.  Great for winter time. I've thought about getting a new foreman myself.  Space is an issue though b/c Hubby does not ever want to get rid of ANYTHING so there are too many things already in the kitchen with not enough space.  Have a good weekend.

All caught up with your journal, I was wondering if you may have made the trip to your son's house since his accident (I read about it over at Rachel's journal). I'm glad I did a little nosing around to find that my alerts were just acting up (again).

I'm glad Jim is on the mend and that Cliff's tests all came back fine. He probably had something that was going around.

I'm glad to see that you are making it to the cabin...wish I had one, a little time to myself sounds heavenly! LOL.

I'm glad that Cliff's tests came back good, except for the low good cholesterol.
I'm also glad that meds. can fix that.  So Jim is on the mend & at home.  That's great!  I like my George Foreman...it's a big one.  (But the grill plates don't come out)  I would like to have the one you're talking about, but I'll wait until mine plays out.  Thanks for keeping us posted about Cliff & Jim.

Does Cliff know how lucky he is to have a wonderful wife like you to make sure he stays well and healthy? I sure hope so! :)
