I'm safe from flooding

In 1972, Cliff's brother, Phil, told us he was buying forty acres of river bottom land near a certain town.  Although it was only fifteen miles from where we lived back then, I had never heard of the town.

In 1973, the double-wide trailer in which Phil and his family lived was washed away when the Missouri River flooded out of it's banks.  Along with everything else he owned.

In 1975, we bought a place in that same area.  Our first priority was that it be above all flooding.  We're on one of the highest points around, and unless there's a flood of biblical proportions, we're safe.

During the flood of '93, we did have a problem getting home one day.  Every road we tried was flooded.  But as for our house and most of our property?  We're high and dry.

Just in case you were wondering.

John's sister's mobile home and her belongings  washed away not once but twice in San Antonio. They decided it was time to move after the second time. Glad you are safe. We have good drainage here but sometime a little rough getting home. Paula

The flood of 93 has special memories for me. I drove out to look at it amd came home to tell my husband what I had seen. He died 2 days later and was buried on a hill on the Nat'l Cemetery in Leavenworth KS.  I could see the flood from there too.

I thought maybe you and Cliff would be safe as I could see on your pictures that you were on higher ground. Thanks the Good Lord. Helen
