I've been thinking....

I have such a full life, and so many things to do without the Internet, that honestly, turning off my computer for twenty-four hours is no big deal.  Even as Internet-addicted as I am.

Now if I agreed to turn off the television too, it might be more difficult.

Or say I had to stop using electricity for that one day.  Which would leave me without water, because we have a well and an electric pump.  Ewww, no flushing.

But hey... only turning off the computer?  No big deal.

If it doesn't rain, I have a horse to ride, a motorcycle to ride with Cliff, even a cabin to which I can retreat.

If it should rain, I have books to read and (if worse comes to worse) a house I could clean.
And a guitar to strum.

What's the big deal?

I double-dog-dare you to try it.

I hardly ever watch TV and so it would be easier for me to turn it off.  Have a great TURNOFF  day.  'On Ya' - ma

Good luck with this.  I think you will do just fine.  I use this laptop at work and I work on Saturday so I won't be joining you this year, but I was tempted,

I have to work on Saturday, so I know at least part of my day would be filled.  Linda

While I can do this at home, the cash register at work is actually a program that runs on a windows based computer. There are track events at the college all day, and it is expected to be one of our busiest days of the year, so there is just no way that we can shut down that computer. Just can't afford the couple of extra seconds it would take to figure out the price of the sandwich manually, not to mention it would be a real pain to figure out inventory the next day. (The register automatically subtracts each sandwich from our inventory!)
Good luck and have a great SHUTDOWN DAY!

Can't!  I use my computer to work from home, get my tv listings info, keep up with my TX daughter, get a lot of my news, (can't always trust the talking heads so I balance it with the internet) and enjoy reading several journals, blogs! And really the last is the least important but still enjoyable!

I could do it a day, but won't 'cause I haven't been on much this week being sick and all and I have some things I need to get done.  I could possibly even do it two days.  But three days?!  Now, that's just cRaZy!!  LOL

That's the way we camp:  coal oil, butane, firewood and us.
