Especially for my daughter and my son

Dear children, my precious babies:

Your daddy and I are going to die.  Count on it.  Life will go on for both of you; and your children, too.  Trust me on this.  My parents died.  Cliff's parents died.  Our lives did not end with theirs, and we've enjoyed living right up to this day; we intend to enjoy tomorrow, too.

It's OK.  I'll be haunting both of you after I die.  You'll think it's your conscience, but it'll be me.  Because that's what mothers do.

Cliff will simply be laughing as you enjoy life, having fun with you and cheering you on... saying "that's MY boy", or "that's my baby girl."

I can see "the look" that means I've crossed the line with you.  I can see Dad laughing about some stupid move we've made.  Still, do NOT do this type of post without a warning.  I refuse to admit that my parents are mortals.  You fix things, you don't "cause" things. OK?

I have to laugh at this entry!  It is both morbid and funny at the same time!  After just losing my grandfather, I know you are right.  Life does go on!

I'm with Carlene.. this is starting to get morbid!  I think that it's great that you and Cliff are able to communicate all this with each other, but now you're starting to freak me out! lol

Oh Dear ... that twenty-four hour thing is getting to you!

Death is a natural part of the cycle of life. I still say, though, that no parent should have to outlive a child. Keep your papers in order and live every day full :-)

If your offspring embarrass you after you are dead, is it possible to disown them from the afterlife?

Are you crazy saying this to your children or whatever. You really want to die!

Well, it only shows concern for one another to talk about it.  :>)  But I'm glad you are still here!

Morbid thoughts LOL but true.

I talk about death with my kids all the time. I think that is an advantage us country people have over city people--we are nearer to life and death. I live in the inner city, now, but I grew up on the farm, and saw where food comes from, and it is not from the counter at Krogers. I've been with countless animals when they died, and several people, and it helps.

Enjoyed the ghost farm, sadly so many are being lost to new homes. I received this poem called the old barn week and thought it was so true.
