A brief ride today

I spent some time leading Secret around the yard today while Cliff trimmed the fruit trees.  I helped him load the limbs he'd cut off onto a trailer, then loaded some junk from the rental place on top of the limbs.  I opened the pasture gate so Cliff could pass through on the tractor a few times, because if he'd had to do it himself, the horses would have escaped.  They always seem to be "guarding the gate" at the most inopportune times.

I came inside and ate a bowl of hamburger stew, napped for a spell in my recliner, and then decided it was time for a horseback ride.

Once back from a quite rewarding ride, I spent time with my filly, Libby, grooming her and reviewing with her the few things I've taught her.

This evening, Cliff's sister and her husband came over and watched a movie with us, and ate a bowl of leftover stew.

It's been a good day.

That is a long time for one family to hold on to a piece of property but it is a good thing. My husband sure wanted to hold on to his grandmother's property but no way we could have afforded to buy it and no one else wanted to go in on it. It had so many good memories for him. The hamberger stew sounds good. Paula

Awwww, love the picture of your two baby girls, they're so sweet.   Amazing the age of that farm in the same family.   Have a great week!    Judy

It's been so long since I've been horseback riding ... used to have many horses.  I imagine myself riding as I read your times with your horses. (And, now, I'm sharing your time with your baby cow, too.  I had many cattle in my day, too.)

it sounds like you had a good day! I wanted so badly to ride yesterday afternoon but I felt awful and my right eye is infected badly. Im jealous you got to ride! its nice the farm owners allow you to ride there. I am in the same position as you, the big ranches near me allow me to ride on their lands as well. Im fortunate!

Secret is soooo cute@!
