So, what is it with AOL?

OK, I thought free AOL might be a good thing, but good grief... it's as slow as molasses in January lately!  I can't edit my journal half the time when I want to, unless I do it from off AOL, using another browser.  And if I try to add pictures to my FTP space, forget it!  It takes about ten tries before I'm successful.

I'm about ready to start blogging elsewhere.

Some days it's perfect other day it's trying...hopefully they'll get the bugs worked out soon.  I've tried another blog and it just isn't the same. I still have it and do post entries in it, but prefer AOL .  The UK bloggers are having worse times than we are.  'On Ya' - ma

I don't much think it is because you are free. I have been seeing complaints all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if AOL doesn't close down any day without notice like the ads appeared with notice. Helen

You know what they say....you get what you pay for....

I'm having horrendous trouble too.  It's almost not worth writing an entry just to have it lost in cyberspace.

I don't keep my pictures in FTP, I keep them in Photobucket, and I never have a problem.  Of course alot of you add your pictures in that box on top.. I just copy and paste from photobucket.. easier for me, and no problems.

As for the slower than molasses... it's not really slow.. it's just not giving me alerts like I should be getting them.  And, I pay 9.95 for mine, so it's not free.

Well, it's not any better for paying customers.  But I think the FTP space is not a new problem.  I've had it FOREVER.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  All I manage to do for the last bunch of months, no matter the method, is get the ugly red X in my journal when I add pictures.

I've thought of leaving too, but truth be told, just like LAST YEAR, I'm not up for a change right at the holidays.

Maybe, for Christmas, AOL will stop being a virus and start being a program.

Oops.  I'm cranky.  Apparently.

I am still paying...and it isn't much better, but after five thousand entries, I don't have the gumption to change,,,

Oh crap!  If YOU are having trouble editing and adding pictures to a blog -- there is absolutely no hope for me to.  I guess this scanner will make a nice paperweight.  SIGH.

I'm not good at visiting other blog spaces.....Whatever would I do if you go?

Well, its not because you have a free account....Pam and Kid rock broke up...but hey, when Brad Pitt breaks up with Angelina, count on the AOL servers crashing for weeks..-Raven

Yeah, I'm sick of it, too.  I would already be gone, but the girls love AOL.  As long as we have it, I keep using it to journal.  Laziness, probably.

Hello,
Yes it sure is getting aggravating! I didn't have much problems yesterday, but the rest of the week I did. As for the FTP, I stopped using it a long time ago: it's NOT secure. Anyone can access your files on AOL so I moved everything to Photobucket and a username and password protected FTP. Photobucket is FREE and very easy to use! (www.photobucket.com) They will eventually get this all fixed and please don't leave us! :-)
You would be so missed.

Hugs,
Gayla

I use the journals and so many folks know my email addy it's easier to keep and being free is great.

AOL software stinks and it always have.  I access AOL via the web and I use Firefox.  Most of the time I don't have a problem.  However, yesterday's issue was because of a sudden surge in traffic over some Pamela Anderson video.  Anyway, no excuse they should have been able to put more servers up and correct the load balancing.

Oh well, I'm rambling.  LOL  My advice, keep AOL but don't use their software.  :-)
