my horses

I saddled Blue and ponied Libby for 45 minutes today.  Blue didn't like it much, but we managed.  Look at all the sweat on him!  Hard work for him, leading a sometimes-protesting kid around.  Actually, Libby did great, all things considered.  When Blue got into his head-nodding gait, I noticed Libby's head was nodding too; in other words, she was doing her gait.

My worst problem with the whole exercise was the two boarded horses:  They'd wait until we were some distance away, then come running, bucking and kicking past us.  This was a bit unsettling for the filly; I think she felt she ought to join them.

Next time, I think I'll shut those other two horses in the lot, so my horses and I can work in peace.

Wow, she's georgeous!  (So's Blue.)  They look so alike.  Love the name Libby.  So can you handle when Blue gets jealous over the split attention?  Both are keepers!  Boo

I know I keep saying this, but you have 2 beautiful horses. Libby seems to come coming along nicely.

Great picture. They are beautiful. Good idea to put the other horses up when you start your thing with Libby and Blue. Have a nice weekend. Helen

Libby looks pretty proud of herself... Like she's saying "I'm a BIG horse now" <LOL>. Once Libby is ponying well, you can take her out and go for some adventures. I have a friend who used to pony her colt with us when we would ride, then when it was time to ride him he wasn't spooky about any of the normal stuff... he'd seen it all riding with us! AND, since our horses ignored the stuff he took his cue from them and did too!

Didn't know what the term "ponied" her meant but I think I figured it out while reading the rest of the entry.

They are just beautiful!  They look so much alike, too!  How did you come up with the name Libby, anyway?
She looks like she's coming along really well and getting used to life with you.
