around our 43 acres

Sadie and I had an interesting experience a while ago; I went out for my second walk once the movie was over that I was watching (Cellular) and, of course, took my dog.  We just went through the second gate and practically ran into a coyote.  Well, Sadie was unleashed, and she was off like a shot!  I almost thought she was going to be able to catch that coyote, and I can't imagine what she would have done with him if she had.  If I'd taken my camera,  I'd have had an interesting video to post.

Why is it that I can never get things like that on video?  And when will I ever learn to slip the camera in my pocket when I'm going walking?

I have a fox here that I see every time I don't have a camera... I've been trying to get a pic of him all summer! Same deal with the red wing hawk that lives here on the property. ... If I have a camera they are no where to be found no matter how long I sit and wait... put it away and they make an appearance <shaking head>

My cousin raises dogs similiar to my Patches and has lost several of them to coyotos. Glad that thing ran from Sadie and didn't have a pack to help it fight. Helen

A coyote with rabies came up to John's daughter's place a few years ago. She had to have her out doors dogs destroyed. Paula

You know to watch for the mate or the rest of the pack.  I never have the camera either!

wow, what an experience with the coyote! Koda and me saw one in the city about a month ago; thankfully he was on the other side of the street heading down and we were heading up and Koda just perked his ears and didn't bark like he normally would have. I wasn't sure what the coyote would have done. Haven't walked that way again alone (it was by a "wilderness area" where they have a sign stating wildlife like coyote, skunk, rattlesnakes are known to be in that area - its also 2 blocks away from an elementary school). I just kept walking Koda and kept praying for safety.

I'm just glad Sadie didn't get into a tangle with that lousy coyote.  Those bastards are my sworn enemy because they have always been my father's enemy.  During very dry months -- they'd kill our ducks, geese, cats, calves, etc.  I know they have a right to exist, but that doesn't keep from hating them.
