Things you won't see in my journal

I know I seem to blog about everything in my life, rambling from one subject to another.  But there are a few topics you won't find here.

1.  I won't be telling you how broke I am; something just doesn't sit right with me about someone who pays for Internet service and owns a computer crying that they're broke.  My fingers don't want to type this, Internet-addicted as I am, but this is not a necessity.  And yes, there was life before cell phones, too.  They aren't essential to life and breath.  I'm talking personal use here, not business.

In 1993 Cliff took a new job and a huge pay cut.  I didn't have a computer then, but we got rid of cable TV, dropped our subscription to the Kansas City Star, and cut out anything else we thought we could do without.  As he got raises, we got our perks back.  Come on folks, it's a no-brainer:  Would I rather lose our home, or give up cable TV?  Which will it be?

2.  I won't slander my neighbors, or make fun of them, at least not intentionally.  There are things going on all around me right now that worry me and interest me, and even some that make me laugh, things I'd love to share with my readers.  But if the shoe were on the other foot, I wouldn't want someone broadcasting my embarrassing moments and foibles to the world.  Not to mention that a person could be sued for libel.

3.  My love life.  Probably it's just my age, but I don't want to know the particulars of anyone's bedroom behavior.  And I certainly don't want to discuss mine where the whole world could read it.

4.  My dirty little secrets.  We all have some, don't we?  I have passed up some interesting memes (the "ask me anything" one, for instance) because there are certain things I wouldn't want to answer truthfully... nor would I want to lie... and if you just ignored the ones you didn't care to answer, it would be pretty obvious what your answer was.  (Is that as clear as mud?)

So, there you have it.  Maybe you thought my life was an open book, but there are a few pages I've torn out, to protect both the innocent and the guilty.

We are broke as heck but I cant give up the internet.  We did give up cable and it may be a long time before we can have it again.  Also gave up getting rental movies in the mail and I do my own hair cuts and coloring.   Thank goodness I have a job interview on Friday...California is so expensive!

I agree with all, except one...I know what broke is...being on SS Disability. But the joy I get from my computer/J-Land is worth more than gold to me. I love it so. Since I seldom get out or socialize, other that Church, & Walmart, I will glady do without other things I probably need, in order to have my computer, ph line, & free AOL.

MOSIE LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE A GOOD ENTRY HERE!!!
I THINK WE ALL CAN SAFELY SAY THAT WE COULD USE EXTRA MONEY!!! I have been MORE BROKE than I am now...How's that??lol
I have to agree with some of the rest ...I would have to give up some other  stuff before my internet and you guys go....I don't know what I would do without all yall...REALLY.
Honey I could fill a book about some of the goings on around here in my neighborhood, but like you, I refuse to do it...and as far as love life.....:-) well, we all know where that went.
Take care Donna, and remember, I may not know everything about you, but I do know you well enough to know that you are a good woman.
love ya,
carlene

There is a time and place for everything...I agree !  I'd like to write about the things I want to remember, not the things I'm trying to forget !  and yes, computers are a necessity, not a luxury in my books!  'On Ya' - ma

I had to give up everything to make it through nursing school. Even the internet ...GAG!!  Hopefully, I'll never have to do that again!

Geez.. I hope you're not talking about me.  I know I don't have a job, but I am paying all my bills.  I am getting a bit of help from my sister right now, but most is my savings and I'm using that to pay bills.  I don't drink.. I don't smoke..  I don't do drugs.. I don't go out.  But, I refuse to give up my computer unless push comes to shove.  I don't even know if you are referring to me, but I felt like you might have been.  I do talk about my life and whats going on in it.... not sex, or anything like that, but ...  Oh well.. why am I defending myself.  I pay my bills.. and I haven't ask anyone here on line to pay them for me.

I understand where you are coming from with this entry. I decided when I started journaling to be somewhat upbeat and positive and encouraging and of course for me a big emphasis was on my faith. There have been times where I just wanted to bear my heart and frustrations in my journal but have had to step back and remember the guidelines I set for myself. I am reminded that it is our journal, our thoughts and we can choose what we put in or what we don't put it and people have the choice to read it or not read it, comment on it or not comment on it.

Mosie ... this entry gave me some pause for thought.  I walked back in my mind to entries I've done over nearly three years ... and I hope, oh I do so hope, that I followed your 'rules' which are pretty much my 'rules'.  Dang.  I may have slipped now and again, but shoot, I try real hard!

You do good Donna.  And who you are comes forward in your journals.  I read them every day and learn many things from them.  I keep in touch with you through them.

Keep up the good work.

Yes, there are somethings I refuse to write about, especially if they concern other people in my life.  My family did not choose to be in my journal and I must respect thier privacy.  Personally,  your rules fit me fine.
