The 2,996 Project

This September 11th, the fifth anniversary of that terrible day on which 2,996 people were killed in the terrorist attacks, I'll be participating in The 2,996 Project. The idea is quite simple: bloggers are being asked to sign up to receive information about one of the victims. On 9/11/06, they'll write a post about that person.  The goal, of course, is to have someone blogging about every single 9/11 victim.

I'll be blogging about Lt. Christopher P. Sullivan this coming September 11.  He was 38 years old when he died in the World Trade Center.

There are still many names left, if you'll like to join in on this tribute.

I signed up too!  Thank you Donna, for bringing this to my attention!  My firefighters name is Peter Longone.  He died in the WTC while trying to rescue others.  I have tried googling and searching for some info on him , but there is nothing other than the regular little tributes that don't really tell you much.  I want to KNOW this man.  What did he like to do?  Was he married?  Did he have children?  I want to know HIM.. so I can make my tribute to really count!  I found a website where you can leave messages for the family, so I left one, hoping they would help me out with info on Peter.  I left my email and my journal site.

This is such a wonderful idea, Donna.  I'm going to mention it in my journal too, since there are so many people left to do tributes on!

Hugs,
Jackie

That is a wonderful idea.  If I think I can handle it, I'll join in.
