Ok, now I can tell you the horror story. Years ago I was working for a horse camp (year round) in Oregon. Not too far from us was the Jefferson Wilderness area. Kinda like a National Park but not as well maintained. My friend decided to take her foster children (2 of them both teens) and herself horse camping. She had two horses but needed to borrow one from the camp. We gave her one of our least favorite horses and saddles. Two nights later I get a call (the directors were out of town) from her. She has lost Chincadero, the horse. They ran into a ground nest of bees. He bucked the girl off and took off. She was of course frantic. The story does end well. He was found 3 days later without his saddle and a huge saddle sore on his withers. It took months to heal. It was the first thing I thought of when you said you were lending your horse for the weekend was this story! I couldn't tell you before he got home safely! Traci
I kept a journal on AOL for over four years. AOL decided to get rid of journals, so I transferred my memories from there to Blogspot. I don't intend to add to this site, except perhaps to add some pictures that were lost in the transfer; I'm keeping it for the memories: memories of babysitting my granddaughters; of my long-gone dog, Mandy; of nights spent at the cabin; of vacations and motorcycles bought and sold.
Thanks, Blogspot, for helping me save my memories.
I was born in 1944. My husband and I are retired, living in a mobile home, and loving life every day with our oldest grandson living in our old house next door to lend us a helping hand if we need it.
