A quiet day

I seldom watch television.  I find the Internet much more interesting, so between keeping up with about three dozen journals, surfing, three Yahoo groups, five or six message boards, and chatting with old friends in a private chat room, that's my entertainment.  Oh, and I do read an occasional book.

I was a bit sad this morning because I had planned to attend a special Church service a few miles away:  A former pastor of mine was speaking (from fifteen years ago) and one of my favorite singers was going to do a couple of numbers.  Cliff's brother decided to stay until noon today, so I missed out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  No folks, I did NOT pout or fume.  I cooked a nice breakfast for our guest and then went to the woods with Sadie for about an hour and a half.

Feeling sorry for myself, when I returned to the house I turned on the television just as "Because Of Winn-Dixie" was on.  I'm a sucker for dog-and-kid movies, and of course I had to cry when Winn-Dixie went missing in a thunderstorm.  The pain of losing Mandy is still fresh.

Following that was "White Noise".  I don't do scary movies well, but Cliff was in here watching with me, so I was doing OK.  And then he left.  I had to have some relief from the terror, so I turned off the television, waited ten minutes, and turned it back on.  And watched the rest of the movie from the safety of my kitchen; somehow I feel safer if I'm in a different room.  Of course, I don't quite understand all that happened at the end because I missed out on the middle of the thing.

Then I figured "Fatal Trust", on the Lifetime channel, looked interesting.  Cliff came back in to watch that one with me, but it was so predictable that we switched to the news.

Oh, and yesterday my son-in-law and I watched "Where Is Danny Deckchair" together.  It was silly, but it kept us entertained. Gee, I haven't watched this much television in years!

I think I'm ready for spring.

I know I am ready for Spring too!  When things like that happen to me, I just figure it must have been for a good reason.  Most of the time, we will never know what it was.  TV has been on it's way out here for a long time.  Too many other better things to do.  'On Ya' - ma

I watch very little TV too. My reason being John usually has control of the remote. I hate that changy changy stuff. That is whay usually happens to me when I plan on going somewhere special it gets changed so you are correct no need to fume. Paula

I hardly ever watch tv, but once in a while you just feel like doing that.  I like the Medium on Mondays and I am into American Idol this year.

I think Because of Winn-Dixie is such a cute movie! I'm with you; I don't watch much TV either; rather spend my time online :)

I watched that White Noise movie today also.  Didn't catch the first part of it, but that's just fine with me.  The whole thing kept me on edge and I didn't let Don leave for even so much as a potty call.  This cold snap, after such beautiful weather, has me back down in the dumps.  So-much-so that I don't even care my kitchens torn apart for our remodel.  Watching the boob tube is my least fav thing to do, but it keeps my mind off the outside gloom.  Better days are coming, Mo....really.  Boo

I been outside soaking up so much oh Spring's eminit arival these longer days, It's all I can do to keep up with journal entries. Have found it interesting to go back a few years and see what I was doing or thinking then, and then there's all the mischief I'd gotten into with Herr Clink. So, it's been about twice a week I get into every one elses whole words, and lilely skim the poard titles for topics of interest.  Sorry!!! Fernan

Thanks for stopping by my porch. I will be visiting you also. It is strange that we all have the same things going on although we are separated by years, miles, & cultures. This world is a wonderful place & we are all blessed with it's beauty and the friends we met . I will stop in here often. Jean

I watched Fatal Trust over the weekend also.  Your right, it was very predictable.  Bummer.

I happened to watch that stupid Fatal Trust thing yesterday as I was trolling thru the channels. Much as I love the March Madness tourney in college basketball, I had to "take a break" and that was the WRONG one!! So much for "creative" writing. rich
