A Special Christmas Day

In the front row:  Pastor, Monica, Natalie and Kevin's grandma.  In the back row:  Cliff, me, Brett, Rachel, Kevin, and Kevin's mom.  Please note the resemblance between Monica, Kevin, and Kevin's mom.

Monica and Natalie had been wanting to be baptized for some time now; the pastor decided Christmas Day would be a good time, and it surely did make it a memorable time for our family.

Now folks, this Church of Christ born-and-bred gal believes in immersion.  But this is what the girls wanted, and of all decisions, this one is most personal.  So, they were sprinkled.

We've attended early services at this Evangelical Free church for a couple of years, and the girls have gone with us most of that time.  Once they moved out here, they became involved in vacation Bible school and AWANA.  They know most of the ladies at Church by name, and all of the kids.  They know the Apostle's Creed, which I have come to love, but it was never part of my religious upbringing.  So I don't know it by heart.

Kevin's mom was seen wiping a tear from time to time as the girls made their public confession, and I'll admit to getting a lump in my throat.

A Christmas to remember, for sure.

Will you have the girls write down the Apostils Creed and send it to me. I blame it on senility; and, I’m sticking to that story. Though raised an Anglican Catholic and served the priests as an alter boy in my youth, reciting that lovely verse may times, I can not for the life in me remember it. Thank You. Fernan

Beautiful picture, beautiful subject. I have always been comfortable with sprinkling since I was raised Methodist although the Cowboy Fellowship I attend now doesn't accept me as a member. I learned the Apostle's Creed at an early age. Never seen a minister come to the house to sprinkle anyone. That was very nice of him and I bet he got some of Mosie's good cooking. Paula

How wonderful that the girls were baptized on this most holy of days.  I was not raised in the Church of Christ, but I did go their faithfully for many years.  I did find however that they preached such fire and brimstone all the time, that when I left on Sunday mornings I never felt 'good' inside.  I always felt like no matter what I did or didn't do, I was never going to make it to heaven.  It kind of made me feel like, "why bother trying, Jackie... God is never gonna let you in those pearly gates."  I finally stopped going.  I was very involved though.  Was in the choir, taught Sunday school, went to womens bible study on Tuesday nights, attended Wednesday night services.  Oh yes... my 1st husband and I were very active in the Church of Christ.

Congratulations to both the girls!! :)

Oh, this is truly beautiful!  I, too, prefer immersion...more symbolic for one thing, but it was the pharisees that got hung up on technicalities, not Christ.  So I am sure with true faith in their hearts they are just as saved as if they were dripping wet.   ;)  - Barbara
P.S. -  Very strong resembilance there!

I used to go to the Presbyterian Church every time the door was opened. I loved the Apostle's Creed.
Blessings to those girls as they go through their lives

Well, there went the eye makeup........

I thought of you and the girls as I sat in church yesterday and witnessed a baptism of a little girl.  I too think it is a wonderful way to remember Christmas Day.  I wish I could have been there.

XXOO (That's for the girls)

Joanna

What a great day to be baptised. I was saved on my birthday when I was nine years old.  God bless and guide these sweet girls. Barbara

Well, I was raised total emersion too.  I think God wants the heart fully emersed - as the main thing.   If they decide later they want complete emersion, they can do it.

I'm just happy to read the girls made a commitment to the Lord.  There's always time for them to decide on a full dunking later down the line.  I know all of heaven is singing over their decision.  Bet you are busting at the seams....I know I would be.  Congratulations....and my prayers for their walk.  Joyce
