Something I don't understand

There's something about J-land... perhaps I should say about the Internet as a whole... that I don't quite understand.

I've seen people say this in their journals:  "I am so behind on my journal reading; I have 2,455 alerts."

OK, maybe they didn't say they had that many, but that's beside the point.  Folks, do NOT feel like you have to read my journal.  It's pure drivel.  There is nothing important in this blog.  If you miss out on reading an entry, I don't mind, and you need not lose any sleep over it.  The world will keep turning.  Bush will still be president when you wake up tomorrow.  The sun will come up and the seasons will change.

It's the same with e-mail.  I hear (or see) someone say, after being gone a few days, "I have 967 e-mails to read; I don't know when I'll find the time."

What, you don't have a delete button?  I have never in my life received any e-mail that was life-altering, or even important (unless it contained a picture of a grandchild).  I do check to see if there's e-mail from my Georgia son, but other than that, I delete the whole mess if I've been on vacation.  Let's get real here:  if there was something important, people would call me on the telephone!

End of rant.  Have a nice week.

Good entry Mosie. We do tend to go a little overboard, myself included. I'm so afraid I'll miss something and it just kills me. Then I think what the hey this is suppose to be fun not work. Paula

Amen I say to you!  Best entry I've seen in a while.  I don't feel at all guilty if I skip a few entries.  Life has a way of getting in the way of Journals and that's the way it should be!

I agree with your logic Mosie, but there is just something about 'being afraid I might miss something", if I hit that darn delete button.  I have never been that far behind before.  I've had maybe 50 or 70 alerts.. but that's okay, because it gives me something to look forward to on the weekends.  I can play catch up.  You may feel that your journal is nothing but drivel... but, I love your journal, and honestly do look forward to reading it every day.

So... pardon moi', but I shall refrain from hitting that delete button... for now.
NOW... if I get  2,455 alerts in my box... welll THEN wer're talking a whole nother ball game! lol

ummm, one COULD possibly ummmm.. turn off alerts? lol..  I have 17 journals i read in aol.. and 17 on blogspot.. they are marked in "favorites" .. when i have the time each day I simply go down the list and click on each one.. some have not changed and i X them immediately and go on to the next... obviously If I don't have time I don't do it but so far, I've found time each day to get thru the entire list.. some in the morning some in the evening.. i do try not to add to the list for now lol...

I know how to delete! That is why I use bloglines now. If there is a lot I will go to the ones that are must reads for me(you are one of those) and delete the rest.
