A Family Entry... Natalie

My daughter, Rachel, says Natalie "tips over" easily.  It's true.  However, Natalie is a natural at certain things:  she can drive a tractor like you wouldn't believe, and she is pretty darned good at horseback riding.  While her sister, Monica, likes to read recipes from cookbooks to anyone who will listen, Natalie is the one who is most likely to help prepare the recipes.  She enjoys cooking, dishwashing, and other housework that her older sister shuns.

The very special thing about Natalie is that she looks like our daughter did as a child, except that she has brown eyes.  And she has many of our daughter's traits.  So having Natalie in our lives has been like getting our baby girl back for a while, which is a real gift from God.  There are so many similarities, it's amazing.  If we meet up with people who knew Rachel when she was small and they see Nattie, their mouths hang open in disbelief at the resemblance.

Natalie is a momma's baby.  Last year when she went to the state fair with her sister and me for three days, it was a big deal that she was able to stay away from her mom that long.  This year she has been away from home (at her other grandma's) for as long as three weeks at a time, so she is growing up.

Perhaps I'll still be around when she has babies, and if I'm lucky, maybe one of them will be a "clone" of her and her mom.  It would be nice, to feel as though I were holding my own baby in my arms... just one more time.

What a wonderful picture!!!  I found your journal while searching for others in the MO area. My husband is in the Air Force and we may be moving there in the next year. Sure looks beautiful where you are.  Robin

Grand 'babes' are wonderful.  They certainly give me something to look forward to.  Right now I'm getting some 'quality time' with 2 of mine.  They'll be back in September too for another friends wedding.  It's hard and expensive for them being so far away from home though to do so much traveling. Sounds like yours are a little closer to home.   We are sooo blessed to have them !  'On Ya' - ma

How cool is that? People ask me why I want to search for my birth parents...it's when I read something like this! Just once I'd like to look in someone's face and look for that connection...the history...the family resemblance...
