We've Got Rain!!!

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PLEASANT HILL HAS EXTENDED THE
FLOOD WATCH UNTIL 600 AM CDT SUNDAY MORNING.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE EXITING
THE MISSOURI AND EASTERN KANSAS THIS MORNING. HOWEVER ANOTHER ROUND
OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED STARTING LATE THIS AFTERNOON IN
NORTHEAST KANSAS AND NORTHWEST MISSOURI AND OVERSPREADING EASTERN
KANSAS AND INTO WESTERN AND CENTRAL MISSOURI TONIGHT. RUN OFF FROM
THE RAIN THAT OCCURRED OVERNIGHT WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE FLOODING
PROBLEMS FOR A TIME THIS MORNING. THEN...WITH THE GROUND ALREADY
SATURATED FROM THE RAIN RECEIVED ON FRIDAY...CONDITIONS WILL BE
FAVORABLE FOR ADDITIONAL FLOODING OF CREEKS AND STREAMS TONIGHT.

I'd have loved to spend last night in the cabin with Mandy, but by the time I realized the rain was going to become a reality, I'd have gotten soaked just going back there.  Every time I awoke in the night, it was still coming down steadily.  Finally, just before sunup, it slowed to a sprinkle.  So I took the flashlight out and checked the rain guage:  4 inches!!!  I know the farmers hereabouts are rejoicing, because some of the crops were starting to look very much in need of moisture.

We started getting in the other day and it has only let up a couple of times. It reallys started coming down yesterday afternoon. I don't mind...in fact I kind of liked it!  Anne

You can have our rain!. Candy has only worked 2 days in the past 9 because of the rain. You cannot ride a lawnmower on wet, stepp, hills. Bad enough when they are dry.

We were supposed to get a lot of rain this past week and it DID rain some but a lot of it went South.  We have some really steamy temps.  It is 94 degrees right now.  Wow!  That surprises me for this early in June.  I see a lot of tornado watches to the west (several states over).  Guess all that will come our way.

You must live near Sim...because he told me he also received 4" of precip.  I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to spend such a wonderful stormy night in the cabin.
