We got doctors

Cliff has had pain in his heels for some time, but lately, it's been shutting him down... to the point he'd rather sit in his recliner than go to the shop.  That is NOT Cliff!  He hates going to doctors, but I made him an appointment, then proceeded to nag, cajole and threaten him so he'd keep the appointment.  And he did.  He has heel spurs, and not much can be done for them.  But the doctor told him about some inserts to get for his shoes.  Cliff bought them, and says they really help.  He can get cortizone shots if the pain puts him completely out of business.  Oh, and the doctor visit was a timely one anyway:  Cliff's blood pressure was high, so he now has one MORE BP pill to take.

I scheduled a mammogram for next Monday.  Now I've made an appointment with my orthopedist on Wednesday.  I guess it's a sign of old age, when you're seeing more than one doctor per week.  Geesh, this journal is starting to sound like "General Hospital".  There are reasons why I'm seeing my orthopedist, but I'll go into that later.

P.S.  We're going to look at a horse for sale tomorrow.  Of course I wouldn't think of buying another horse; I'm just window-shopping, that's all.  :-x

Wouldn't it be cool if you, and me, and Natalie could all ride together?  Or what about me, and you, and Aunt Charlene?  Or what about me, and Aunt Charlene and Natalie?  Yeah, I noticed that my name pops up in all scenarios.  That wasn't an accident!

I have had a heel thing going on.....it was plantar fasciatus or something like that where the arch fell and it pulls the muscle (stretches the muscle) so that the back of the heel hurts.  It hurt really bad in the mornings and also when standing on them.  I almost couldn't walk.  Doc told me I could not wear anything really flat.  I still wear flat sandals and can get by if they are cushy, but no more cheap tennis shoes or hard flat sandals.
Also, to help, you can roll a coke bottle (or a canned good) underneath your foot right under the arch support and it will help relieve it.
I don't have problems with it much anymore.  But I knew a friend that had to have surgery for it.

My mama had heel spurs. As soon as I read the first part that was what popped in my mind. You just have to wear them down by walking. Dr. Skoll makes a real good gel pad for them. My daughter uses it.
Getting horse happy?LOL

I feel Cliffs pain. I have just about everything wrong with your feet that a person could have. I have worn out 3 don-joy walking boots, been casted for a broken ankle (broken in physical therapy) been in a wheelchair, been taped up, had the cortisone shots, (the first shot lasted 8 minutes) had hard inserts, had soft inserts. TIME heels all things, it just doesn't pass as quickly as we would like!   Anne

And why don't you get re-tested for Lyme Disease while you're in the clinic??  I worry and I'm not even a mom.    Russ

Those shoe inserts really DO help...poor Cliff. Hope all is ok with you as well. I am hating watching myself fall apart these last couple years, and I haven't even hit 40 yet. Eeesh.

Tell Pop's that the shot in the heel's will help with the pain for awhile.  Then you can go back and get another one, it just a big cirical that never ends.  Don't for get about getting inserts made just for his feet.  The worked like magic for me.  I also forgot that the insurance paid for 90% of the cost.  Just little things for him to think about.
