Monday photo shoot ... TIME KEEPS TICKING

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Show us picture of something that to you represents the passage of time.

What you see here is Mandy, today, chewing on cow bones.  The cow was Betsy, one of my last Jerseys; she died of milk fever while I was accompanying my ex-daughter-in-law to the airport to pick up her Pekenese dog.  I don't recall the year, but it had to have been 1993 or 1994, because the year after the flood of '93, I remember finding lots of mushrooms near the stinking carcass of my cow.  Today I found a handful of them in the same place, so it must be a good spot.  To me, those bovine hipbones convey the passage of time better than anything I can think of.  Living creatures die, but life goes on.

How many morels can you see beneath the Mayflowers, among the leaves near the bones?  The little greys are hard to spot.

I think I see four but not that good at spotting them since I never even heard of them till I met you Mo. Thanks educating this old city gal. Love going with you on your adventures.

Hi ya!  Thanks for stopping by my journal to see my Morels!  Great picture, by the way!  I see 4 mushrooms for sure, and possibly a 5th to the left of the one on the left....??  ~Lana

You and Sim should compare notes on the best way to hunt Morels.

Hmmmm, I see 7, but my eyes could be playing tricks on me!  I have found your mushroom hunt stories quite interesting, not sure that we have these here in the Northern California foothills, but at least now I know what they look like!

That makes me sad and comforted at the same time-thanks for sharing it :)

The passage of time for me is represented in a couple of things.  The first would be gadgets.  My Dad was (and still is) a gadget man while I was growing up and so we had the latest.  When I look at those now and see how antique looking they are compared to the newest stuff it shows the passage of time.

The other would be my neices and nephews growing up.  The first one was born when I was 8-now some of them are having babies themselves.

Thank you again for the kind words about my Mom-Jeff

I could only see six; but I need new glasses--and I'm not kidding, there! We went mushroom hunting yesterday--and didn't find a one. I guess I'll just fry up the two I found in the front yard tonight. We did manage to pick a nice mess of asparagus; Baron lay down on the bag, and broke it into nice little pieces for me! Lol! So we'll have that, too--steamed, with lemon and butter.
I think the best way to find morels is actually not to look for them!
